Portrait of May Sartoris

I saw this piece last summer at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth. It's a very classic piece and I love the red breaking up the darkness in it. The Kimbell has a very nice collection of art and lately has been hosting some really nice exhibits.

French Impressionism

The works of the French Impressionist are wonderful. The Louvre and Musee d'Orsay are great for the lover of Impressionist or just about any other kind of artwork. My favourite French artist include Renoir, Manet, Monet and Degas. I love the softness of the paintings and they are really relaxing. I have a lot of books on Impressionism. The Courtauld Gallery near the Southbank had a great exhbit lastyear on Renoir (1841-1919). Some of it is still ongoing.
I really dreaded missing the Parisian exhibit last year at the High Museum in Atlanta.
I also enjoy the works of Camille Pissarro and Mary Cassat.

These four greats are absolutely my favs. David by Michelangelo is a magnifico work of art. Huge and very clean in sculpture.

The Lady with the Veil by Alexander Roslin

I am still planning to buy a copy of this lovely print. It's very classic and sweet. It's by Swedish portraitist Alexander Roslin (1718-93) and called, The Lady with the Veil and hangs in the National Museum of Sweden. It would be nice to have my own self-portrait like this piece too.

Neon Hip-Hop

I came across this photo the other day. It's really cool and different with the neon vibe effect. Very hip and modern.

Portrait of Don Justino de Neve

I love the National Gallery in London and I love looking at this painting. It's by Spanoish painter Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (1617-82). It's called Portrait of Don Justino de Neve. "The painting is inscribed and dated 1665 on the panel beneath the coat of arms. Don Justino de Neve was a canon of Seville Cathedral and a close friend of Murillo. He was instrumental in commissioning two of Murillo's celebrated series of church decorations, those of S. Maria la Blanca (1662/5) and those for the Hospital of the Venerable Sacerdotes (1670s), the foundation to which the portrait was left on Don Justino's death in 1685."
Murillo has done several great works including the Immaculate Conception and St. John the Baptist in the Wilderness to name a few.

Jamaican Profile

This is a beautiful profile by British Jamaican artist Samere Tansley. It would be great to have my own portrait like this. Maybe I will do it one day soon.
